EVENTS FOR SENIOR COMMS , PR, AND MARKETING LEADERS IN THE THICK OF IT.NATALIE MORAN
ISN’T HERE TO BE THE
EXPERT IN THE ROOM.
Comms Futurist is where you compare notes, build relationships that last, and problem solve in real time with your peers.
Why She Built This
Too often, the people holding everything together are the least supported. Comms Futurist exists to change that: equipping comms and PR leaders to do this work well, and to make confident, strategic calls in the middle of the chaos.
Her Story
Natalie Moran is the founder of Comms Futurist, a community and events platform for communications and PR leaders.
Before starting Comms Futurist, Natalie worked in nonprofit communications: supporting leaders, managing external communications, leading content initiatives, and helping organizations navigate change. Like many comms professionals, she kept running into the same pattern — people solving the same problems with little chance to learn from peers facing the same thing.
When Natalie left her full-time role, she planned to build a communications consulting business. As a way to meet people in the industry and grow her network, she started hosting conversations and events for comms leaders.
What happened next surprised her. Communications leaders kept showing up, not once, but again and again. The conversations were candid, practical, and grounded in the work itself. People shared ideas, traded lessons learned, and connected with peers who understood exactly what they were navigating. As the community grew, organizations started sponsoring the programming, which meant events could be free for participants and reach even more people.
Today, Comms Futurist has brought together thousands of communications professionals through virtual events, executive roundtables, and (soon!) in-person gatherings. Participants come from Fortune 100 companies, nonprofits, healthcare systems, higher education, and public sector organizations. More than 70% hold director-level roles or above, which makes for a rare kind of peer-to-peer learning among senior practitioners.
Natalie spends her time convening communications leaders, tracking what’s changing across the profession, and building conversations that help practitioners learn directly from one another Topics span employee communication and workplace culture to leadership visibility, PR measurement, AI, and the evolving role of comms inside modern organizations.
She’s based in Kansas City and stays endlessly curious about where this profession is heading.
She picks topics because they’re useful for the people in the room, not because they’re easy to sell. That’s why people keep coming back.
